A Quick Update

Yesterday (Jan 13) was a fun trip to see my heart doctor at West Michigan Heart.

The first good news… I lost weight. Down to 185.7 Yay!

Next good news… blood pressure… 108 over  75. Another fantastic result.

After going over my file and discussing the interval between visits the doctor has announced that after my next refill of Plavix I can discontinue those pills. The main thing Plavix does is helps the body to prevent the rejection of the stents. In the past is was only required for six months after the surgery. In recent years the time frame was bumped up to a year. This period of time is to ensure any scar tissue has healed and that the stent has been covered by new growth tissue to prevent the body from attacking the device in the future.

In addition, the doctor has taken me off of Metoprolol. For the next week I go from taking two per day to one per day. A week later, I can stop taking this medication. YAY!

Then finally I can stop taking 325mg of aspirin every day. I now only need to take one children’s aspirin everyday. YAY!

Next visit with the heart doctor is six months from now to make sure things are doing well.
